BATTLE OF THE MIND

Battle of life are won and lost in the mind! This is where most believers are brought down begging on their feet! The bible says in
 Proverbs 4:23   "Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that's where life starts."(THE MESSAGE). 
Character which are the result of deeds and speech result from the heart as said in 
Luke 6:45
 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. NIV
That is why so much war happens in the mind! As i traveled from one camp venue to another serving, questions like "why is it so hard for me and my brothers around the world to resist temptations that flood our minds and also why are there some super human beings like our church or group leaders that are so HOLY. And i asked the question is it possible to be like them? Do they face temptations" kept running through my mind. All the church do is give us rules which make disobedience more possible!  Rules which have do's and don'ts, and any disobedience is met with severe consequence.......even alienation!
 Those this really help in winning the next battle faced? May be or maybe not! I just find myself doing what i don't want to do because the devil is always there looking for how to bring me down to my feet ( 1 peter 5 : 8 "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour"). 
So i asked myself the question "how can i be victorious when temptations flood me in this sinful world?" One of the memory verses i learnt a long time just kept ringing in my head.

Psalms 119:9-11
ow can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word. 
I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands. 
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.

Also this set of verses also made more sense which talks about abstinence 

1 Peter 2:11-12
 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 
NIV
Then i resolved that "Hiding God's word in my heart is the only way i can win the battles that happen in the mind and not adhering toseveral set of rules"!
