THE COST OF NON-DISCIPLESHIP

So much has being happening in the world in the last five days which has caught the eyes of everyone and I am referring to the “Paris Terrorist attacks”. It was termed brutal and inhumane by so many on the social media contents in my country while some where full of sarcasm and disappoint at the level of importance placed on this, stressing that this is something that happens in the Northern part of Nigeria frequently and the world does not seem to care. Anyway that’s not the purpose of this ranting! I was just wondering the misguided passion from people which makes them kill and blow themselves up all in the name of religion! I think this is a wakeup call for all…..Tight securities and good governance can’t bring an end to violence, immorality and corruption. We can keep pointing fingers at people and events but we are the problem….when you take away the main reason and purpose for existence, we then settle for something less which has resulted in high rate of recruitment of young people by this radicalist in both developed and developing countries.
I was reading Ezekiel 8 today for my Quiet Time and verse 16 caught my attention where Ezekiel was taken to the inner part of the tabernacle and he saw people numbering twenty five that were in between porch and the altar turning their backs on God and bowing towards the East in worship of the Sun!  When we turn our backs to God, the worship of anything is inevitable…..When the Israelites turned their backs on God, He turned away from them and gave them away into exile where they were forced to worship lesser things.

Today immorality, violence and corruption prevails in the world because of the decay of the discipleship process….people prefer socializing to discipleship….I face that every day on campus where people will choose to go for big religious meetings instead of attending discipleship classes and being accountable with a view of growing spiritually. What is the place of the Church and Christians today in all of these? We must stop looking to ourselves the term called “Freedom” today a chance to do and live anyhow! We must come together hand in hand united no matter the denomination looking up to Jesus (Hebrews 12: 1).  We must all become true disciples of Jesus like the first disciples were. We must revitalize the act of Discipleship which is dying today. We are the answers to all the chaos happening in the world today….true purpose in life is found in following Jesus!

God is looking for men and women who will stand in the gap and rebuild the wall (Ezekiel 22: 30) and fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28: 19-20); Being and making disciples! Will you be one? We need people today who are transformed in the heart not by looks alone and have found the true purpose for living.
